CES 2020: The Hottest PC Cases and Modder Gear

Not only has the demise of the desktop PC been greatly exaggerated, the makers of the ancillary bits are upping their output and creativity, as if to prove that weary cliche wrong. CES usually takes second place to midyear’s Computex Taipei trade show as the launchpad for serious PC-builder gear, but 2020’s edition was no slouch. Check out the top dozen bits we saw at the show. California releases smartphone virus tool as cases soar

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) — California Gov. Gavin Newsom on Monday announced a voluntary smartphone tool to alert people of possible coronavirus exposure as cases soar higher, new restrictions are imposed and many people still say they won’t heed the pleas to stay home.

The tool — which has been used on a pilot basis on some state university campuses — doesn’t track people’s identities or locations but uses Bluetooth wireless signals to detect when two phones are within 6 feet (1.8 meters) of each other for at least 15 minutes, officials said.

Colleges Reopenings In-Person Likely Added 3,000 U.S. COVID-19 Cases Per Day: Study | Top News

(Reuters) – Reopening college and university campuses for in-person instruction during late summer this year could be associated with more than 3,000 additional cases of COVID-19 per day in the United States in recent weeks, according to a new study.

The findings call into question the practicality of face-to-face classes during the COVID-19 pandemic, and are important as colleges and universities plan their spring 2020 semesters, said researchers from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, Indiana University, the University of Washington and Davidson College.

The findings are yet to be peer reviewed and have not yet been published online.

Almost 900 new coronavirus cases reported in Orange County as state fixes computer glitches

The logjam of coronavirus test results at the state level broke free Monday, bumping up cases of the coronavirus by nearly 900 in Orange County.

The county reported 886 new coronavirus cases, bringing the total to 40,527, according to the Orange County Health Care Agency.

The news comes after days of artificially low reports as technical difficulties hindered the state health data collection system and led to the sudden resignation of Dr. Sonia Angell, the director of the California Department of Public Health, the agency in charge of collecting the electronic test results.

Gov. Gavin Newsom said Monday that his
